If somebody would ask me, which is my favourite time to visit Coorg, my answer would be always monsoons. During monsoon, Coorg becomes super beautiful if I could say in my words. Everything which was brown turns green, dried up waterfalls filled, dams at its maximum capacity, rivers all gushing full, mountains greens it one-word ‘HEAVEN’. Its the pure mother nature makes you fall in love again.
The best places to visit in Coorg during monsoons is Dubare Elephant training camp, Dubare white water rafting, Chiklihole dam, Harangi Dam, Abbey falls, Raja seat and Mandalpatti.
Dubare elephant training camp – the rivers are full and crossing over the river and getting into the elephant camp island is only possible by the ferry.
Dubare whitewater river rafting – the rivers are full and its the best time for river rafting, the organiser are trained and professional and all safety gears are provided so its just pure fun.
Chiklihole dam – this serves as a less know picnic place but the dam becomes really beautiful in monsoons. Its one of my personal favourite.
Harangi dam – the water reaches the full capacity and the gates of the dam are open and it is a breathtaking view to see the water gush out of the gates.
Abbey falls – now its the time to see the real beauty of Abbey falls, the falls are full and the path to the falls is between the coffee plantations and its a jolly walk.
Raja Seat – the viewpoint park gets all green and the sunset view if you are lucky it is really scenic.
Mandalpatti – another favourite place of mine, the beauty of Mandalpatti endpoint makes me feel out of the world mesmerised.
There are few more places to visit such as Irpu and Mallahalli falls which would take one day each to visit – nice place to visit, less crowded but less recommended because of the distance to reach from other attractions.
